About Us

Sweetbryar Bullmastiffs is a VCA registered prefix belonging to me (Shelley Johnson) and is located in rural Victoria, Australia. Sweetbryar is a small kennel that believes in selective breeding for soundness and quality.

I am a member of the Bullmastiff Club of Victoria who have been extremely friendly and helpful towards me since I started looking for a Bullmastiff.

History

My involvement with Bullmastiffs began after many years of showing Border Collies and owning Rottweilers as pets. At a show I admired the Bullmastiffs in the next ring and decided to contact the club who provided me with information on the breed.

Eventually I got in contact with Karen and Mark Lewison of Blakrouge Bullmastiffs (formally Karabul) and put my name down for a puppy. Two years later the Lewison's had a litter and from this litter I acquired Blakrouge Blushin Bryde (Blush) and she was the prettiest little puppy!!

I told Karen I was only going to show at a couple of local shows, probably just three shows a year but ended up going all over Victoria! Blush and I have had lots of fun and have met heaps of new people.

Blush was titled at just 13 months old, and is now a Multi Class and Exhibit in group and in Show winner. So much for just going to the odd show!!

The Future

At some stage in the near future Blush will have her first breeding to a carefully chosen sire that will compliment her both physically and with his pedigree. This will be Blush's first litter and I am very excited about what she may produce.
